Training

Opportunities abound at Pitt to work on sleep and translational research!

  • Translational Research Training in Sleep Medicine (T32)

The objective of this NIH-funded T-32 program from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is to train clinical and basic researchers in a translational approach to Sleep Medicine.

  • The CARRS Undergraduate Internship Program

Undergraduate students are invited to join us for a minimum of two semesters to gain experience conducting hands-on research and data collection with our adolescent participants. Students are provided with introductory education on science behind sleep research including: Circadian Rhythm, DLMO, Ecological Momentary Assessment, and Polysomnography. After extensive training, they work directly and independently in lab with research participants collecting and processing data such as: computerized behavioral measurements, fMRI, melatonin samples, blood & urine samples, and other survey data. Evening & weekend lab work with 13-15-year-old research participants is required.

Interested undergraduates may apply by emailing their resume to Ronette Blake at blakerg2@upmc.edu.
